Database Administrator – National Simulation Center, Fort Gregg-Adams, VA

Specific tasks include:

  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of the organization’s databases.
  • Duties include maintaining adherence to a data management policy and ensuring that company databases are functional and backed up in the event of memory loss.
  • Administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems.
  • Coordinate changes to computer databases. Identify, investigate, and resolve database performance issues, database capacity, and database scalability.
  • May plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline
  • At least 2 years’ experience with simulation, stimulation databases                                                                                         
  • At least 2 years’ experience providing functional and technical SME support to MCS requirements and scenario
  • At least 2 to 3 years’ experience building databases (db) for federated and sustainment stand-alone use by drawing upon authoritative databases, as well as simulated unit structures, personnel and equipment.                                                                            
  • Knowledge and understanding of M&S databases, LVC-IA, and stimulation of Army Mission Command Systems in support of training events and distributed exercises                                                                
  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding in performing updates in databases based on defined changes to Training Support Packages provided by Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM).                                                                        
  • Experience in supporting databases during exercises and/or events
  • Experience with Joint Deployment Logistics Model (JDLM) and Joint Master Scenario Event List (JMSEL) databases supporting Combined Arms Support Command Post Exercise-Sustainment scenarios                          
  • Must possess and the ability to maintain Secret DoD Clearance.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work is performed in a fast pace is driven office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
  • Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.
