Compensation: $25.62/hour base + $4.93/hour fringe
About the Role
Join our team in Brownsville as a System Support Specialist supporting the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas. You’ll be the first line of defense for your colleagues’ technology needs—troubleshooting desktop PCs, servers, LAN connectivity, and training end users to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to help-desk requests via phone, email, or onsite visits
- Install, configure, test, and maintain PCs, printers, and peripherals
- Configure operating systems and application software (Microsoft Office, email)
- Diagnose hardware/software problems and coordinate repairs
- Troubleshoot LAN connectivity and work with network/telecom teams
- Develop user guides, FAQs, and deliver hands-on training sessions
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of direct end-user support (telephone and onsite)
- Hands-on familiarity with Windows OS, Office suite, and PC hardware
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both standalone and networked systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication; pleasant telephone manner
- Able to pass SF-85P+PS background clearance (High-Risk, Public Trust)
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred
Nice to Have
- Certification or experience with litigation-support, imaging, or database applications
- Experience in a DOJ office automation environment
- Prior teaching/training experience in computer applications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
