Project Manager – Lands Program
Position Overview:
The Project Manager – Lands Program manages the full lifecycle of land and right-of-way acquisition and adjustment projects across the National Forests in North Carolina. This role integrates all necessary activities to ensure legal, regulatory, and quality compliance, while coordinating across multiple stakeholders to deliver results efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end projects involving land acquisitions, exchanges, and rights-of-way adjustments.
- Develop schedules, track deliverables, and monitor project quality and compliance.
- Review title work; prepare preliminary and final title opinion packages.
- Coordinate contracts for survey, appraisal, hazmat, and title abstracting services.
- Conduct land records research and maintain all documentation.
- Provide expert advice on complex land and right-of-way legal matters.
- Conduct on-site inspections and interface with private landowners, NGOs, and agency staff.
- Ensure all processes meet Department of Justice and USDA Forest Service requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in land adjustments, acquisitions, or related legal/real property matters.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Federal lands and right-of-way acquisition policies.
- Proven success managing concurrent land or acquisition projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital records systems.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and adept at managing deliverables to strict deadlines.
Location: Fully remote, with periodic travel for field inspections or stakeholder meetings across North Carolina National Forests.
Hours: 8 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $69.00/hour
