General Clerk III – Litigation Support (Houston, TX)

Compensation: $20.53 per hour + $4.93/hr fringe

About Us
Join our dynamic litigation support team in Houston, where you’ll provide critical administrative and receptionist services to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas. You’ll be the first line of contact for visitors and callers, and your organizational skills will help our attorneys and legal staff stay on track.


What You’ll Do

  • Front-Desk & Reception:
    • Greet office visitors and answer incoming calls, ensuring only authorized guests enter
    • Operate and monitor the telephone switchboard and CCTV system for facility access
    • Screen, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages
  • Case & File Management:
    • Open and close cases in CaseView; print, assemble, and file civil and criminal case documents
    • Maintain yearly records inventories of active and inactive case files
    • File appeal documents into corresponding case folders
  • Litigation Coordination:
    • Coordinate and notify Duty AUSAs and Legal Assistants of new arrest notices
    • Monitor daily court calendars for docket changes; communicate updates to legal staff
    • Prepare travel itineraries for case witnesses and litigation personnel
  • Office Operations:
    • Track government-vehicle logs: key binders, WEX cards, receipts, and mileage sheets
    • Assist with inventory management and submission of excess property
    • Produce reports, correspondence, and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Schedule & Work Hours

  • Standard Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
  • Exceptions: Federal holidays or facility closures due to emergencies/administrative directives
  • Flexibility: Contractor’s hours may vary to meet program needs

What We’re Looking For

  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Comfortable creating spreadsheets and basic databases
  • Professional Skills:
    • Strong organizational ability and sound judgment in daily tasks
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; courteous and discreet with sensitive information
  • Experience & Extras:
    • Prior reception or clerical support experience preferred
    • Familiarity with CaseView or similar legal case-management software is a plus
    • Bilingual candidates a plus
